Iran’s ambassador calls for expansion of relations with Brunei

Fekri & Pehin Dato YahyaKuala Lumpur, Feb 12, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Brunei Abdolmajid Fekri in a ceremony on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution called for the expansion of bilateral relations in different fields.

During the ceremony which was held in the Brunei capital Bandar Seri Begawan, Minister of Industries and Primary Resources Pehin Dato Yahya was present as the representative of the Brunei government and Sultan.


Fekri, referring to cultural commonalities between the two countries called for further strengthening of bilateral relations between Iran and Brunei.

He said both Iran and Brunei are fighting against terrorism and have other similarities in political, economic, historical and religious fields which paves the way for the expansion of bilateral relations.

The Iranian ambassador underlined the need for coordinated efforts to fight against extremism and terrorism and said the West is misusing the issue of terrorism and extremism to fan the flames of Islamophobia.

Iran and Brunei started bilateral relations in May 1990 and Iran’s Embassy in Brunei was opened in 1994.

Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, in a message congratulated the president, the government and people of Iran on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
