TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Countries Hossein Amir-Abdollahian reiterated that the Iran is ready for confronting Boko Haram and ISIL terrorist groups.
Western intelligence agencies are supporting the ISIL, he said, adding Iran backs African countries’ efforts to suppress Boko Haram.
He also condemned operations of the groups in Nigeria, saying that Iran which has undergone major responsibilities in fighting terrorism in the Middle East, is now ready to work with the African Union to confront terrorism.
The ISIL is destabilizing Syria and Iraq, he said, reiterating that Syrian crisis should be settled through political solution.
The Iranian diplomat is now in Addis Ababa for the AU summit.
