TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker highlighted the impacts of the recent letter by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to the youths in Europe and North America saying the message will spark "new movements" in the West.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei wrote a letter in English asking European and North American youths not to judge Islam based on the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s letter is of great importance as it addressed the youth and received international coverage, Member of Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Esmaeil Kosari told the Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday.
“The letter can definitely trigger new movements in the West,” he stressed.
The Iranian MP also referred to the Islamophobia campaigns spearheaded by Westerners, and said that European and American youths should know that politicians are lying to their people, especially to the young generation who seeks the truth.
This was why the Supreme Leader asked the youth to study Islam directly and not to accept a prescriptive and deviated interpretation of the religion, he added.
In his historic letter, Imam Khamenei asked Western youths to try to gain a direct and firsthand knowledge of the religion in reaction to the flood of prejudgments and disinformation campaigns.
“Don’t allow them to hypocritically introduce their own recruited terrorists as representatives of Islam,” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed in the letter.
