TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani’s recent trip to Turkey has prepared the ground for boosting political and economic relations between the two neighboring countries, the Iranian ambassador to Ankara said.
Speaking to Iranian parliament’s official news agency, Alireza Bigdeli pointed to Larijani’s meetings with high-ranking Turkish authorities on the sidelines of the 10th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC), in Istanbul, saying expansion of bilateral economic cooperation topped the agenda of talks.
He said during the bilateral meetings, the Iranian parliament speaker and Turkish officials called for joint efforts to reach the target turnover of $30 billion by 2015.
Earlier this month, Iran’s minister of communications and Turkey’s minister of development explored avenues for strengthening economic relations between Tehran and Ankara.
The Iranian and Turkish officials emphasized the need for following up the implementation of deals signed in the first meeting of Strategic Cooperation Council in Turkey.
