TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif would take part in the official ceremony to be held following death of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
“On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Zarif will attend in the official ceremony which is to be held by Saudi Arabia on Saturday,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham.
Zarif who has visited Zurich for Davos World Economic Forum would head to Riyadh to pay respect.
The Saudi King died in the early hours of Friday morning. He was 90.
Services were held Friday afternoon at the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Grand Mosque in Riyadh, and world leaders paid their respects.
Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz was appointed as the new king, Saudi state television reported.
The announcement of Abdullah's death came several weeks after the state-run Saudi Press Agency said he was suffering from pneumonia and had been admitted to the hospital.
