22 Jan 2015 - 15:31

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Qatar’s Judiciary Chief and Attorney General Ali Bin Futais al-Merri highlighted Tehran’s role in the region, and said his country is ready to expand its bilateral judicial ties with Tehran.
In a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abollahian on Wednesday, al-Merri hailed Iran’s significant position in the region, and highlighted bilateral ties between Doha and Tehran.

The Qatari judiciary chief also voiced his country’s readiness to expand its judicial cooperation with Iran at bilateral and international levels.

The Iranian official, for his part, appreciated al-Merri’s “positive and constructive role” in facilitating consular and judicial relations between the two countries.

Qatar’s judiciary chief paid a two-day visit to Tehran in November to promote Tehran-Doha cooperation in legal and judicial fields. During the visit, he met with his Iranian counterpart Ayatollah Amoli Larijani and explored avenues for expanding bilateral judicial ties.

Amir Abdollahian referred to the agreements made between the two judiciary chiefs, and described them as a positive step in the path of judicial relations and cooperation between Tehran and Doha.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister left Tehran for Doha on Tuesday to take part in the joint political committee meeting there.
