Zarif leaves for Kabul

Tehran, Jan 20, IRNA – Heading a high-ranking delegation, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran for Kabul on Tuesday morning.
  During his one-day visit, Zarif will meet with President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan and the country's Head of Natioanl Security Council Abdullah Abdullah.
This is Zarif's first visit to Afghanistan since the new government has come to power in that country.

On Monday, Zarif expressed pleasure that 'a new unity government has been formed in Afghanistan which represents Afghans of all walks of life and two friends of Iran are running it'.

He added, 'I feel that it is necessry to visit Afghanistan in this important juncture. I will declare Iran's support for Afghnistan's unity government. I hope to have good negotiations with Afghan officials on issues of mutual interest and also the threats that the two countries face such as illegal drugs, terrorism, and extremism.'
