Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov, Jan 19 - Police Borderguard Commander Brigadier General Qassem Rezaei said in this southeastern province on Monday that Iran’s border areas are fully safe and secure.
Rezaei made the remarks on the sidelines of his visit from an exhibition showcasing Iranian borderguards' achievements in the province.
He also pointed out that the terrorists pose no threat to Iran-Iraq joint border areas.
Rezaei and his Iraqi counterpart Abdolkarim Al-Ameri visited the exhibition on Monday.
Several high ranking Iraqi officials also were accompanying Al-Ameri during his inspection tour.
The visit was aimed at sharing experiences, surveying field activities for monitoring the vast eastern joint border areas and seeking ways for counter-narcotics measures.
In the latest border clashes, two Iranian border police officers were killed and several border guards were injured at Iran-Pakistan border area by a group of bandits last October.
Iran has repeatedly criticized its eastern neighbors for failing to rein in terrorists who cross the borders back into these countries after carrying out their attacks on Iranian soil.
