Tehran, Jan 11, IRNA – Winners of the Arbaeen international Photography Competition will be awarded in February.
Cultural Deputy of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Seyed Mohammad Hossein Hashemi said the awarding ceremony will be held concurrent with celebrations marking the anniversary of the February 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran.
He added that the deadline for submitting photos on the annual Arbaeen march has been extended to January 21, iqna.ir reported.

Hashemi noted that millions of Shia and Sunni Muslims from some 80 countries took part in this year’s Arbaeen march in Iraq.

Each year on the eve of Arbaeen (marking the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS)), pilgrims travel long routes on foot to the holy city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located.

The ICRO has organized the Arbaeen International Photography Competition with the aim of promoting the different aspects of this huge religious rally.

According to Hashemi, the competition has been received warmly by Iranians as well as foreign Muslims.
