Tabriz, East Azarbaijan Prov, Jan 8, IRNA – The head of Iran’s Police Brigadier General Esmaeil Ahmadi Moqaddam on Thursday said Iran's authority has turned the country into the main supporter of regional states in their fight against terrorist groups.
Speaking in this northwestern provincial capital city, the police commander told IRNA all security bodies have full control over the country’s border areas.
“There are no concerns about security of Iran’s western borders due to the relentless efforts made by the country’s security, police and intelligence forces,” he stressed, adding that everything is under control.
Referring to the latest victories made by Iraqi military and public forces against terrorist groups, the police chief said all Iraqi border areas near the Iranian territory have been cleared from the terrorists. However, Ahmadi Moqaddam added that the terrorist groups inside Iraq are trying to launch some operations inside the Iranian territories despite their 40-km distance from the Iranian borders.
“They have not been successful yet due to the close watch of careful Iranian security forces,” said the police chief.
