Iran and France have expressed concern over the growing number of operations by Takfiri and terrorist groups in the Middle East, underlining the need to take serious action to tackle regional crises.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Jean-François Girault, the French Foreign Ministry's director for North Africa and Middle East, discussed the latest challenges in the Middle East region in a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

The two sides voice support for political approaches to settle regional issues.

Touching on Lebanon, the two diplomats underscored the need for a presidential election as it has been postponed on numerous occasions. They also said the improvement of the situation in Lebanon hinges on consensus among all political parties in the country.

Amir-Abdollahian and Girault also discussed the situation in Bahrain, reiterating that national dialog was the best political approach to end the ongoing tension in the Persian Gulf monarchy.

They also said Manama’s arrest of prominent opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman contravenes the al Khalifa regime’s political commitments.

The two officials also stressed the need for constant consultations between Tehran and Paris on regional issues.

The ISIL terrorists are currently in control of large areas across Iraq in Syria where they have been carrying out horrific acts of violence against different Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
