Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA – Discord is the bitterest fruit of Islam's garden and unity its sweetest, Chairman of Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said here Wednesday.
  'May be the enemies have lit this fire, but as we see some ignorant individuals within the Islamic societies are expanding this fire,' said the Expediency Council chairman in a meeting with a group of Khuzestan province political, social and cultural activists, after felicitating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (P).
Reminding the Muslims of the colonialist 'divide and rule' motto, aimed at exertion of their hegemony over the Muslims, Rafsanjani said: The prevailing conditions under which the Muslims are living are contrary with the Prophet of Islam's programs, words and deeds.

He said that the disputes play a destructive role in any society, group, or system and referred to the lowered oil prices as an example.

'If the rulers of the Islamic countries would have instead of expanding the dimensions of disputes emphasized on interactions over commonalties, oil, which it the main capital of the Islamic countries would not have become a cheap toy in the hands of other politicians,' said Rafsanjani.

The Expediency Council chairman said that unity is the most dire, most urgent need of the Muslims, and especially the Iranians under the current conditions.

'We can build our country relying on huge God given blessings, give all Iranian ethnic groups and minorities their rights and realize the fact that disputes are the bitterest and unity is the sweetest fruit of Islam's garden.

Referring to the geographical position, the rich subterranean resources, appropriate water ways, very fertile lands, and above all, people who are fiddle to their Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said that Khuzestan province is abundant with God-given blessings.

He also referred to the peaceful coexistence of the Arab and non-Arab residents of Khuzestan, arguing that the martyrs of that province are the document of their fidelity to their Iranian system.
