IRGC rejects report on hijacking of Iranian plane

6 Jan 2015 - 16:35

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA A senior military official on Tuesday dismissed reports on hijacking of an Iranian plane by a terrorist group noting that it was a misinterpretation of recent statements of an IRGC official in a TV program.
Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in charge of Security Affairs Brigadier General Mohammad Hassan Kazemi said the misunderstanding was made in a news program aired by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) following the interview of an IRGC operational official with an Iranian media.
Commenting on the misinterpretation, Commander Kazemi said, As it was repeatedly announced earlier, no practical move to hijack Irans airplanes has been made since 2010.

The alleged report of hijacking was a false impression made by some domestic media, Kazemi said.

He added the IRGC security unit is actively present in the field of providing security of the Iranian flights and preventing any possible move to endanger their security.

He expressed hope that domestic media would publish their reports with more sensitivity and accuracy in the future so that it would not lead to disturbing public opinion and giving wrong signals to enemies.
