Hamedan, Jan 4, IRNA – Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mahmoud Golzari said on Sunday that some 40,000 male and female divorcees, mostly under the age of 30, are added to the Iranian society each year.
Addressing a local gathering in this northwestern provincial capital city, the official referred to marriage as a highly significant social issue which should be given proper consideration.
According to Golzari, one fourth of the total 160,000 marriages in Iran end in divorce.
He referred to cultural and social problems including unemployment and the panic of the youth over dealing with the problems of a married life as major obstacles on the way of marriage of the young generation.
