TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian setter Saeid Marouf joined Zenit Kazan on Saturday, one of the team’s officials said.
Zenit Kazan vice-president Ilham Rakhmatullin gave an interview for the official website of the team and confirmed that in the first 10 days of 2015, Saied Marouf and Matt Anderson will join the roster.
“We can finally confirm that we signed a contract with Marouf! I suppose he will join us on January the 10th. It depends on Russian visa," Rakhmatullin stated.
"We didn’t terminate contract with Anderson so he will play in the next match of the CEV Champions league! Marouf will play domestic league and Champions league," Rakhmatullin added.
Zenit Kazan has been Russia’s most successful club in recent years. It was founded with the name Dinamo Kazan in 2000, and in a short time the team moved up through the minor leagues to make their debut in the Russian Championship super league in 2003/04.
The Kazan team won bronze in that first season.
