A high ranking Iranian military commander says the ongoing maneuvers in southern country focus, among other things, on electronic warfare, Press TV reports.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Press TV on Friday, the second-in-command of Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari said during their second day, the war drills showcased agility of Iranian armed forces in rapid transfer of forces from eastern to western end of the war theater.
He noted that the drills will also focus on countering enemy’s electronic warfare in which Iranian armed forces will use their electronic warfare potentials against the attacks by hypothetical enemy.
“The Ground Forces, I can say, will be focusing on electronic warfare and anti-electronic warfare operations,” the commander pointed out, adding, “In coming days, during various stages of the maneuvers, we have air detection on the agenda and our powerful Air Force will also conduct various other stages of the operations that are remaining.”
Heidari also noted that Iran’s air defense system will also provide security of the air space over the war theater for other stages of the operations to be carried out in upcoming days.
Heidari also noted that there are numerous other remaining operations which will be conducted during the military drills.
