HONG KONG, Dec. 14 (MNA) – Iran’s Cadet and Junior judo national squad has finished 6th in overall standing with 10 gold, silver and bronze medals.
Mehr News correspondent from Hong Kong, reported that 8th Asian Cadet and 15th Junior Judo had closed with final rankings known and all medals awarded. 322 junior and cadet judo athletes from 22 Asian countries participated in the competitions.
Iran’s share of the medals was only a single gold medal, a silver medal, and 8 bronze medals. On Sunday and final day of the competitions Iran won a silver and 4 other bronzes in men’s and a bronze in women’s sections. Iman Nikbin won a silver medal in -81kg class. Mohammad Rashnownejad, Mohammad Mohammadi Berimanlou, Ahmad Qasemi, and Khosrow Rahimi won bronzes; in women’s section, Zahra Naderi snatched a single bronze medal.
Iran’s -90kg judo athlete Hossein Arabi suffered an injury before the competitions, sending Iran with 7 athletes, who won overall of 6 medals. Japan won the championship in men’s juniors, with South Korea following it in the second place; and Mongolia stood in the third place. Iran came only sixth after Uzbekistan and Tajikistan with 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
In cadet championship, Soheil Jamalabadi won a gold medal; Zahra Baqeri, Hamidreza Malekzadeh, and Alireza Khojasteh managed to win bronze medals for Iran.
