7 Dec 2014 - 9:41

Abadan, Khuzestan prov, Dec 6, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Police Chief Brigadier Hossein Ashtari said Saturday that Iran and Iraq will develop cooperation on campaign against terrorism.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi top-ranking border guard official Brigadier Ali Wahham Jabbar in the international border of Shalamcheh.
Ashtari voiced Iran's readiness to support Baghdad government in its campaign against terrorism.

The presence of people in Iraq on Arbaeen is a preventive threat to Takfiri groups in the country and their foreign agents, Ashtari said.

Arbaeen is a Shia religious observation that occurs 40 days after Ashura, the day of martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Infallible Household.

The Iraqi official, for his part, referred to strategic relations between Iran and Iraq and said cooperation of the two neighboring countries in the fight against Takfiri groups, Daesh in particular, is inevitable.

He said that today Iran and Iraq are unified to stand against a common enemy.
