Iranian, Qatari labor ministers sing MoUs

2 Dec 2014 - 16:37

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian and Qatari labor ministers signed several memorandums of understanding as part of efforts to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Sending Iranian workforce to Qatar was among one of the most important issues discussed during the negotiations between Iran's Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Welfare Ali Rabiee and Abdullah Salih al-Khalifi, Qatar’s Minister of Labor on Tuesday.

The two sides also agreed to set up a joint commission at deputy level to implement the agreements.

Iranian minister hailed the cordial ties between Iran and Qatar saying sending Iranian workforce to Qatar can reinforce social ties between the two countries.

The two ministers also agreed to set up a special committee to standardize labor regulations for the workforce.

Back in October, Iran’s first vice-president voiced the country’s preparedness to provide Qatar with whatever assistance it needs for the FIFA World Cup, slated for 2022.

In a meeting with Qatari Minister of Economy and Trade Ahmad bin Jasim bin Muhammad Al Thani, Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri expressed Tehran’s readiness for “any cooperation with Qatar in all arenas, such as development of infrastructure or the export of technical and engineering services” in preparation work for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In December 2010, Qatar, a tiny oil-rich country in the Persian Gulf, was awarded the world’s biggest sporting event by FIFA.
