Tehran museums to host storytelling programs

29 Nov 2014 - 12:45

Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA – Several museums in Tehran are planning to hold permanent storytelling programs, an official said.
“The plan aims to promote book reading and reviving the art of storytelling, as a part of intangible cultural heritage, the children’s office caretaker of Cultural Heritage Research Center Leila Kaffash Zadeh said.
“Museums are the best places for leisure times and cultural visits. During the Book Week of Iran (Nov.15-21), museum visitors believed that the culture of storytelling was a part of our ancestors’ lives and an intangible heritage,” she added.

The new sessions will be held following the success of another program which was held, as ‘Seven museums, seven stories’, in Tehran’s National, Post, Golestan, Carpet, Peace, Moghaddam and Negarestan Garden museums.

“Even the adults were enjoying the stories which indeed indicates that storytelling and listening to narrations are warmly welcomed,” Kaffash Zadeh added.

The museums of Peace, Moghaddam and Negarestan Garden will host permanent storytelling sessions onwards.
