TEHRAN Nov 28 (Shana)--The chairman of Energy Commission of the Parliament has said that transfer of gas flare projects to private sector and using associated gases for generating electricity is conducive to realization of Economy of Resistance goals.

He noted that gas flare projects carry a high level of value-added generating national wealth adding implementation of these projects not only will eliminate pollution but will improve the quality of air in favor of the people living in oil producing regions.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he welcomed one hundred percent participation of private sector in gas flare projects expressing hope existing obstacles in the way of investment in the projects to be removed as soon as possible.
During the ceremony the National Iranian Oil Company’s (NIOC) managing director Roknoddin Javadi also said that implementing associated gas gathering projects will take at least five years to complete.
Javadi said: we have been waiting for many years to hold such a tender which will help to realization of two crucial objectives, generating wealth and eliminating pollution.
Associated gas is a form of natural gas which is found with deposits of petroleum, either dissolved in the oil or as a free "gas cap" above the oil in the reservoir. Historically, this type of gas was released as a waste product from the petroleum extraction industry. Due to the remote location of many oil fields, either at sea or on land, this gas is simply burnt off in gas flares. When this occurs the gas is referred to as flare gas.
