Moscow, Nov 28, IRNA – Simultaneously with Gilan Province Trade Exhibition in Astrakhan, which began on Wednesday, Iran-Russia Economic Cooperation Conference was held in that Russian port city in the presence of the two countries’ merchants.
Iranian Deputy Industries, Mines and Trade Minister Mojtaba Khosrowtaj, Gilan Province Governor General Mohammad Ali Najafi and Iranian Consul General in Astrakhan Seyyed Mohammad Mirhosseini and Astrakhan Prime Minister Constantine Markelov were among the two countries’ officials at the conference.
The Iranian Deputy Industries, Mines and Trade minister highlighted the need for identifying the economic capacities of the two countries in the conference and stressed the necessity for lifting the obstacles in the way of smoother bilateral trade.
“One of the obstacles that need to be lifted to contribute to the development of Iran-Russia economic relations is solving the existing banking problems and good efforts have been made in that respect,” he said.
Morhosseini said that thanks to the efforts made in that respect it is hoped that the Iranian merchants will present their goods in the Russian markets with greater ease.
Gilan Province Governor General Najafi, too, asked for lifting the obstacles in the way of Astrakhan-Gilan relations.
“Gilan province is ready for providing all types of facilities and services that the merchants might need for further development of bilateral trade,” he said.
The prime minister of Astrakhan, too, said at the meeting that following the expansion of Iran-Russian relations Astrakhan is ready for expanding trade relations with Iran, especially in exchange for agricultural and animal husbandry fields.
