Tehran, Nov 23, IRNA – Minister of Industry, MineS and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said on Saturday that overseas activities in the field of mineS and mining industry is one of the policies of his ministry, adding that negotiations have been held with neighboring countries in this regard.
Speaking at a ceremony for signing a contract on technology transfer of Naphylene Synth to Sarab City in Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province, the minister said development of aluminum industry is among significant plans of his ministry.
He said limited access to raw materials in this field resulted in implementation of the project with an annual capacity of 200 thousand tons of alumina powder.
Nematzadeh stressed that Jajarm alumina plant with an annual capacity of over 200 thousand alumina powder should be developed and in the meantime the contract for extraction of bauxite from mines in Guinea Conakry which has been suspended for 20 years is necessary to become activated.
He said Russia has the required experience in the field of using Naphylene Synth for producing alumina and Iran will take advantage of the expertise of this country.
The new project, he further remarked, has no precedence in Iran and in fact is considered a new measure in the country and therefore requires the necessary care in order to ensure its success.
Naphylene Synth plant is located 20 km from Sarab which is 140 km east of Tabriz, the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province.
