Abadan, Khuzestan Prov., Nov 18, IRNA – In a ceremony on Tuesday which was attended by the governor of Khorramshahr and a number of local officials and Brilliant Arvand Marine Transportation Company, the shipping line on Khorramshahr-Basra was launched at the Persian Gulf International Passenger Terminal.
Speaking to IRNA, Governor of Khoramshahr Valiollah Hayati said the line is in service with the two “Iran Zamin” and “Brilliant” ships on the threshold of Arbaeen, the fortieth day of the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS), third Imam of Prophet Mohammad (S) Household.
He said the two ships have the capacity of transporting 1,200 passengers and Iranian pilgrims of holy shrines from Khorramshahr to Iraq and vice versa.
Pointing to the sustainable security of Khorramshahr-Basra shipping line, Hayati said given the security, tourism attractions and short distance in Arvand Rud, this marine border is one of the safest and closest points of Iran to Iraq.
He said it takes 45 minutes to reach Iraq from Khorramshahr, adding that with regard to the infrastructures and existing capacities in the Persian Gulf International Passenger Terminal of Khorramshahr some two to three hours have been saved in time in comparison with the land journey.
Calling on the passengers and pilgrims to take the marine border in Khorramshahr for travelling to Iraq, he said Khorramshahr marine border with a passenger terminal has become operational for the pilgrims and tourists who wish to visit Iraq.
He also called on all the Iranian nationals to make investment in this sector.
