TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) Second Executive Council and Seventh Plenary Session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly are scheduled to be held on 1-3 December 2014 in Lahore, Pakistan.
Hadi Nejad Hosseinian, senior adviser and the Secretary-General of the APA Secretariat, noted that the session was originally to be held in Islamabad, but due to some security issues, it will take place in Lahore from December 1-3.
In this session, three permanent committees will focus on political, economic, cultural and social fields and implore into issues including pursue of peace and friendship in Asia, cooperation among member governments and parliaments, financial crisis and its impact on Asian countries, globalization, environment, anti-corruption and anti-terrorism campaigns, cultural diversity, as well as protecting the rights of Palestinian people, elaborated Nejad Hosseinian.
To commemorate the founding of Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the APA Secretariat will hold a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 17, at Espinas International Hotel, Tehran.
The APA comprises of 41 Member Parliaments and 17 observers. The president of Asian Parliamentary Assembly is elected from the member parliaments for two years. So far, representatives from Iran, Indonesia, Syria and Pakistan have been elected as President of the APA for a two-year term of office. Cambodia will preside over the sessions of the assembly in 2015.
