'Health and Human Rights' week to be held with Iran's Alaei brothers' effort

3 Dec 2012 - 17:22

With the effort of two Iranian HIV/AIDS specialists, Arash and Kamiar Alaei, a working week was named as 'Health and Human Rights'.
Prominent Iranian AIDS doctors Arash and Kamiar Alaei, who are currently working at the State University of New York, have proposed the university to hold a working week between Dec 1st (World's AIDS Day) and Dec 10th (World's Human Rights Day) as the 'Health and Human Rights' week.

In fact, the week will be held by the 'Health and Human Rights Institute' that Alaei brothers have established.

Dr. Kamiar Alaei was quoted as saying that the reason why we put the concepts of human rights and health together is that 'healthy living' is one of the basic rights of every human being, but many people, especially HIV-positives, have been deprived of it.

According to the International Bill of Human Rights, world development program and many others, the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being.
