Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov., Oct 13, IRNA – A deputy at Ports and Maritime Organization of Shahid Bahonar in Bandar Abbas says export of non-oil goods in the first half of the current year increased by 231% as compared to the same period last year.
Qassem Askari-Nasab said during the period, 28,470 tons of non-oil goods were exported from Shahid Bahonar Port which showed an increase of 231% in comparison with the last year.
Chemicals, agricultural and mineral substances in addition to fruits and vegetables, protein, iron and construction materials were major export commodities from Shahid Bahonar to the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean.
He said about 985,178 tons of oil and non-oil products were exported from the port since the start of the current year (March 21) up to the end of Shahrivar (September 22).
According to Askari-Nasab, in the field of container operations 1,604 TIUs have been reloaded and unloaded in the current year which shows an increase of 2.5% over the previous year.
Bandar Shahid Bahonar enjoying 12 berths, access to open seas, proximity with the Persian Gulf littoral states and having proper depth of water for mooring has been turned into a strategic and important commercial port in the region.
