Moscow, Oct 9, IRNA – Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati said Thursday that Iran is considering ways to export fruits and other agricultural products to Russia.
Mahmoud Hojjati made the remarks during a visit to Iranian pavilions at the 16th Russian Agricultural Exhibition underway in Moscow.
Hojjati is currently on a visit to Moscow to attend the third meeting of agriculture ministers of SCO member states.
A delegation of agricultural experts and Iranian businessmen in the field of agricultural products are accompanying Hojjati.
Hojjati is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of the SCO meeting for talks on agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
With restrictions Russia adopted on import of fruits and vegetables from the European Union, Iran which is one of the main producers of agricultural products in the region can export part of its products to Russia, analysts say.
Russia imports between 7 and 10 billion dollars of fruits and dried fruits annually, a major part of which used to come from the EU.
