Iranian documentaries compete at Russian film festival

A number of Iranian productions have garnered for awards at the 14th International Documentary Film Festival dubbed Flahertiana in Russia.
Iranian Ninja directed by Marjan Riahi and Mashti Esmaeil by Mehdi Zamanpour were the documentaries that entered the competition section of the festival.

This year’s festival also dedicated a section to Iran’s Cinema Vérité, displayed Iranian documentaries.

The Scent of Lemon at Dawn by Azadeh Bizargiti, Heritage of Stepfather directed by Nima Mahdian, Memories for All Seasons by Mostafa Razaq-Karimi and A Grasshopper Turned into a Monster by Mohammad-Taqi Fahim were among the films screened at the section.

Iranian documentary Trucker and the Fox directed by Arash Lahouti was honored at last year’s festival as the best film of the event.

The 12th International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana took place from September 21 to 28, in Russian city of art Perm.

The festival is dedicated to films which show a character that lives on the screen a part of his life directed by the author according to the laws of dramatic art.
