TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The medical service unit at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has started using seven new achievements, a ranking commander announced.
The IRGC Ground Force Deputy Commander for Medical Affairs General Akhavan said on Sunday that his forces are indigenizing the necessary medical equipment since many of the imported products do not meet the local demands.
Producing homegrown medical equipment would also entail economic advantages, the commander noted, speaking at a specialized exhibition held to display the IRGC forces’ abilities.
As regards the most recent achievements, Akhavan said they include an upgraded mobile mechanized rescue post, armored ambulance, mobile lifesaving surgery unit, the rapid reaction medical team, two 50-bed and 60-bed hospital, and telemedicine programs.
Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant areas or during military operations.
