Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA – Iran on Sunday welcomed political agreement in Afghanistan to form the national unity government.
The Islamic Republic of Iran backs restoration of peace, stability and security under formation of a broad-based government with participation of all political groups and ethnics, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry welcomes political agreement between Afghan presidential rivals Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah for formation of a national unity government.
The Islamic Republic of Iran as the neighboring state to Afghanistan supports restoration of peace, stability and security leading to formation of a broad-based government in presence of all political parties and the ethnic groups, read the statement.
The recent agreement is a sign of political maturity for the Afghan intellectuals and people and indicates high capacity and capability of Afghan society in dealing with the country's problems, said the statement.
Experiences gained in the past several years proved that the Afghan people have learned that unity and solidarity is the key to the successful administration of the country, said the statement.
It is expected that the new agreement which obtained through vigilance and far-sightedness of Afghan nation to be durable enough and its positive impacts will be tangible in restoring and bolstering security and tranquility.
The Islamic Republic of Iran calls for a unified and developed Afghanistan and will spare no efforts to broaden all out relations and cooperation with the Afghan government, said the statement.
After two months, the two Afghan presidential rivals signed a deal on formation of a national unity government of Afghanistan.
