New York, Sept 18, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Thursday described his talks with UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson as very fruitful.
He expressed the hope that talks between the two sides would continue next month meeting in Tehran.
In the meeting, Zarif and UN deputy secretary-general discussed various issues such as current developments in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran's nuclear issue and emergence of Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.
Iran attaches importance to the significant role of the UN in resolving regional and global disputes and believes that the body should be more authoritative in dealing with these issues, Zarif said.
