TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tehran’s City Council voiced preparedness to help Qatar in preparation work for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, due to be held in the Arab country.
“If the Qataris ask, we will be ready to help them in the technical and engineering fields for the 2022 World Cup,” Tehran’s City Council Chairman Mahdi Chamran said on Wednesday.
He made the comments in a meeting with Chairman of Qatar’s Central Municipal Council Saud bin Abdullah Hamad al-Henzab, here in Tehran.
Chamran also expressed the Islamic Republic’s preparedness to provide assistance to the Persian Gulf state in the health tourism and medical sectors.
"We can also export agricultural products to Qatar," Chamran added.
The visiting Arab official, for his part, praised Iran’s great abilities in the medical fields, saying Doha is eager to use Iran’s expertise in this regard.
Referring to the 2022 World Cup as a big event, Henzab said Qatar’s entire infrastructures are undergoing major upheavals to get ready for the games.
In December 2010, Qatar, a tiny oil-rich country in the Persian Gulf, was awarded the world’s biggest sporting event by FIFA.
