Tehran, Sept 15, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that the European Union is expected to play active role to resolve the nuclear dispute.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with the new Italian Ambassador to Tehran Mauro Conchatori.
Zarif underlined that Italy as the current chairman of the European Union would effectively lead the nuclear talks to a satisfactory outcome.
Conchatori presented a copy of his credentials to the Iranian foreign minister.
Referring to deep-rooted relations between Iran and Italy, Zarif called for expansion of economic cooperation.
The new Italian ambassador, for his part, highlighted the longstanding amity between Iran and Italy and said that Rome always seeks to broaden relations with Tehran and to the same reason Italy was the first European country which sent its deputy foreign minister to Iran immediately after victory of President Hassan Rouhani in the presidential election last year.
