The sixth edition of International Tehran Sculpture Symposium has opened in the Iranian capital of Tehran’s Milad Tower.
Several Iranian municipal officials have attended the gala held on Sunday, September 14. A number of Iranian and international sculptors also participated in the event.
The symposium is held in two sections of main competition and student segment that will be judged by a jury panel comprised of two Iranian juries and a foreign one.
The select council of the symposium has selected 12 Iranian and 12 foreign artists to take part in the main segment while the student segment is to host 10 students to compete in this section.
Student segment has been designed only for the fine art sculpture BA students who are experienced in stone carving.
Turkey, Spain, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Romania, Albania, and China are among the international competitors at the event.
Organized by Tehran’s Beautification Organization, the annual event aims at stimulating development and promotion in the art of sculpture as well as urban environment beautification in Iran.
The symposium is also held to promote Iran’s contemporary sculpture art and stylize Tehran’s spaces through providing the necessary condition for emergence and evolution of the artistic creations.
The sixth International Tehran Sculpture Symposium is programmed to run until October 7, 2014.
