Tehran, Aug 16, IRNA – Vice-President and Head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Soltanifar said on Saturday that Iran has the highest amount of the world?s cultural heritage but only three percent of them have yet been identified.
He made the remarks in his statement to a group of ICHHTO staff in Yazd.
Soltanifar hoped for more vibrancy in the tourism and economic sectors, using economic capacities available and the proper literature the incumbent government of President Hassan Rouhani is applying in international relations.
He said high number of tourists visiting Iran indicates the landmark interest of European tourists in tourist attractions of Iran over the past few months compared to the previous years.
He said that in 2014 the hotels are booked and for 2015 indicating the high interest in Iran tourism by the foreign tourists.
?All these indicate high potential of the country for attraction of tourists helping the country?s economy.?
He added that the country still lags behind of its target growth set by the government, and that he believes that investment in the tourism sector will help create jobs and earn foreign currency helping national economy.
He said just in the cultural heritage sector, the government invests 2,000 billion rials annually and the income stands at 15,000 billion rials a year.
