14 Aug 2014 - 17:25

Tehran, August 14, IRNA – Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Thursday that extremist terrorist groups seek to defame world Muslims.
Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with Head of Jame al-Montazer theological school in Pakistan Ayatollah Hafiz Sayyed Riyadh Hussein Najafi on Thursday.
Unity is vital for world Muslims, Rafsanjani said adding that under the current circumstances that some try to imply that Muslims advocate violence, some ignorant people try to incite ethnic hatred and religious disputes which will only benefit enemies.

He said Muslims in Pakistan are committed to their beliefs despite pressure and hostile propaganda against them.

Theological schools in Pakistan are different from those established by Taliban who spare no efforts to defame Islam, Rafsanjani said.

The Pakistani religious figure, for his part briefed Rafsanjani on the current status of Muslims and theological schools in Pakistan and highlighted the significant role of Ayatollah Rafsanjani in Iran and the world of Islam.

?I hope religious leaders will take immediate action to forge unity and prevent sedition among world Muslims,? he said.
