TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s outside spiker Amir Ghafour finished as the 2014 FIVB World League's best scorer.
Iran finished in fourth place after being beaten by Italy in straight sets (25-22, 25-18, 25-22) in the bronze medal match in Florence’s Nelson Mandela Forum on Sunday.
It is Iran’s best ever World League performance. In its debut season, 2013, the Iranian team finished ninth.
Amir Ghafour finished as the tournament's best scorer with 71 points, followed by Americans Taylor Sander with 66 and Matt Anderson with 64.
Iran’s Saeid Marouf was also chosen as the competition’s best setter and won a $10,000 cash prize.
