Araghchi announces 'progress' in drafting text of final deal

12 Jul 2014 - 16:08

TEHRAN, July 12 (MNA) – Iran’s senior negotiator has announced ‘progress’ in drafting the text of final nuclear deal with Powers.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that drafting a comprehensive deal on Tehran nuclear program had ‘good progress,’ but major differences were still on place, and that the main issues are not still completely agreed upon.

Araghchi added that both sides had agreed upon 60 to 65 per cent of the text of final deal, “but that does not mean the content issues are agreed upon yet; the remaining points are important.”

In an interview to Iran’s state TV IRIB, Araghchi held that they had discussed ways to settle the differences; but there had been little achievement on the main issues such as sanctions removal. “Negotiations are seriously underway and we are resolved enough but will not give up even an iota of the Iranian nations’ right,” said he and hoped that with foreign ministers joining the talks, a nuclear deal would be agreed before July 20 deadline.

Araghchi added that negotiations would continue after July 20 in the case no agreement is made by then; “Iran will abandon talks if west’s demands are too much,” he told IRIB.
