Tehran, June 18, IRNA - The world cannot ignore Iran’s role as a secure energy supplier, deputy petroleum minister said on Wednesday.
Iran’s role in global energy supply cannot be ignored, given its 34 tcm of gas in independent and shared reservoirs, SHANA quoted Hamid-Reza Araqi as saying in Moscow.
“Today, the entire world acknowledges the fact that no country in the world would be able to survive without energy. To that effect, the Islamic Republic enjoys a special status due to its huge hydrocarbon reserves,” he said.
Araqi added that energy security is an inevitable requirement for development in the world, adding that energy-rich Iran can be instrumental in world energy supply.
He said Iran’s hydrocarbon reservoirs provide a good opportunity for bolstering energy supply security in international markets.
Araqi, who is also managing-director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), said imposing sanctions on energy would mean depriving people of a God-given blessing.
