Iran eyeing to launch heavier satellites
Head of Iranian Space Agency Hassan Salariyeh said on Wednesday that the agency already has the required facilities for launching satellites up to 200 kg and is seeking to promote these facilities to launch heavier under-one-ton satellites.

The official made the remarks on the sidelines of a visit to Iran Airshow 2022 in Kish Island, southern Iran.

He said that Iran entered the space industry two decades ago with the aim of indigenizing the industry and is still pursuing its plans with a new look.

Salariyeh noted that the country has drawn a 10-year vision plan for the space industry which focuses on further indigenizing the industry and upgrading the users.

He said that the already-signed agreements with Russia and its space agency increase Irans chances for fulfillment of the goals of this 10-year vision plan in a shorter time.

Russian Space Agency chief Yury Borisov, who was also present at the event, said for his part that his country is ready to exchange views with Iran, noting that with the capabilities on both sides, holding such joint events can be helpful for both countries to reach their goals.

Space agencies of Iran and Russia are scheduled to hold a new round of talks on the sidelines of Iran Airshow 2022.

The 11th edition of the Iran Airshow kicked off on Tuesday and will run until December 16.

Some 90 companies from Iran, Russia, China and other countries have participated in the event.
