Iran's Defense Ministry has equipped 51 cities across the country with civil defense systems to monitor and thwart any threats at the shortest possible time, a senior defense official says.

Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi said on Saturday that such civil defense equipment will help Iran�s Armed Forces carry out missions such as identifying and monitoring threats through the use�and coordination of hardware infrastructure and round-the-clock software support based on the type of threats and risks.

In case of any threat against the country, he added, the Armed Forces would not be caught off guard but would be able to take the "most appropriate action in the shortest possible time in order to identify, repel and respond to threats."

He emphasized that all defense sectors need to draw up plans in proportion to the pace of technological changes and advances in the world.

"Today, the form of battles has become more complicated depending on the power of countries, and in fact hybrid wars,� including radioactive, biological, and cyber attacks have replaced classical and traditional wars, Farahi said.

He added that Iran's Defense Ministry has developed necessary infrastructure to identify and thwart all types of biological, radioactive and chemical threats, but he emphasized the need for the Armed Forces to obtain necessary readiness to make decisions in possible battles in the future.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made substantial headway�in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the military sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will never stop working to strengthen its military capabilities for defense purposes.

The Iranian Army�s cutting-edge drones late last month successfully hit and destroyed a set of �sensitive and vital� mock enemy targets using state-of-the-art weapons with pinpoint accuracy on the second day of massive countrywide drills.

Chief Commander of Iran�s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami on Thursday hailed the achievements made in the defense industry despite all the restrictions imposed on the country, saying the Armed Forces are today ready to respond�to all enemy threats at any level.




It was imperative for Iran to promote its military equipment and defense systems and reduce the gap with advanced countries in the face of growing capabilities and the fast pace of technological gains on the global stage, the IRGC commander added.
