Iran to start drilling for the Arash gas field

The Iranian Minister of Oil announced the start of drilling for the Arash joint field in the near future.

Arash gas field is one of the gas fields in Iran, which is located in the north of the Persian Gulf and in the province of Hormozgan in the south of Iran.

Arash gas field is one of the common fields of Iran with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, which is called "Al Durra"field by these two Arab countries.

According to Iran Press, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji wrote on his Twitter page that comprehensive studies of the Arash joint field have been completed by drilling exploratory wells and conducting seismic surveys.

Oji stressed that drilling operations in the field will begin soon with the installation of the foundation.

The Iranian oil minister stated that although Iran is willing to negotiate and cooperate for the development of joint fields, unilateral measures will not prevent the implementation of the Arash joint field drilling project.

On 22 March, 2022 (Farvardin2, 1401), Saudi Energy Minister Abdul Aziz bin Salman and his Kuwaiti counterpart Mohammed Abdul Latif al-Fars signed a document on the development of the Arash gas field in the waters of thePersian Gulf.

Following the signing of the document, the Kuwait Oil Company announced in a statement that the Arash gas field is expected to produce 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day and 84,000 barrels per day of gas condensate, which will be divided equally between the two partners.

This move by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia was contrary to current procedures and previous negotiations.
