In reaction to a US Senator's remarks on Iran, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Khatibzadeh said that Onus is on�Joe Biden to convince the international community, including all JCPOA participants that his signature means something.

In response to a tweet of US Senator Ted Cruz, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh in�a tweet on late Monday wrote, "The world is acutely aware of what Mr. Cruz confesses: that regimes in Washington are rogue."

"Onus is on�@POTUS�to convince intl. community�incl all JCPOA participants�that his signature means something," he added.

"For that, "objective guarantees" needed. No one would accept anything less," the diplomat noted.

Ted Cruz in a tweet wrote, "Nope. Joe Biden has ZERO constitutional authority to make that commitment. Unless any deal w/ Iran is ratified by the Senate as a treaty�which Biden knows will NOT happen�it is a 100% certainty that any future Republican president will tear it up."

The 2015 deal, more formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council � the US, the UK, China, Russia, and France � plus Germany and the EU.�Despite the International Atomic Energy Agency's acknowledgement of Iran's adherence to all of its obligations, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in May 2018.
