Iran's five representative offices pursuing activities from Kabul:FM spox

Iran's Foreign Minister spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said Iran five representative offices which used to scatter across Afghanistan are now pursuing their activities from the capital city Kabul.

He made the remarks here on Sunday in response to reporters' questions about the situation of the missions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan.

He added that out of Iran five missions in Afghanistan, namely in Kabul, Mazar-i-Sharif, Jalalabad, Herat and Kandahar, the staff of three representative offices, including Mazar-i-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar are now working from Kabul.

For certain reasons, the closure of these three offices was not made public but currently only three guards and a few local employees are present in these three offices.

Khatibzadeh went on to note that in Kabul number of staff have been drastically reduced to a size which would allow no disruption in routine tasks.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said Iranian diplomats and mission staff are safe and have no problem in traveling to Iran, but have preferred to remain at the mission for the time being.
