Iran’s parliament plans to prohibit dual-nationals, Green Card holders from running for presidency

Iranian parliament passed a measure on Tuesday to forbid dual nationals and holders of foreign residency from running in presidential elections.

afThemove came after speculation that some officials may hold Green Cards from the United States.

Meanwhile, the measure which passed while broadcasting live from state radio, still needs to be ratified by Guardian council before it takes effect.

Tehran is going to to hold presidential elections in June 2021.
