Run-off parliamentary election underway in Iran

Run-off parliamentary election underway in Iran
Tasnim The runoff elections for the remaining parliamentary seats kicked off in nine provinces of Iran on Friday morning after a five-month delay because of the novel coronavirus.

The elections are held in 3,100 polling stations across Iran for 11 remaining seats from a total of 290 ones.

The runoff election was initially set for April 17, but the organizers decided to postpone the votes after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

The elections are held in full compliance with the health protocols in the provinces of East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Ilam, Alborz, Zanjan, Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Golestan.

All polling stations have been disinfected on the eve of the election. It is also obligatory for the voters to wear face masks and gloves and observe the social distancing regulations at the polling stations.

The runoff parliamentary elections in Tehran and two other cities will be held next year with the nationwide presidential and city council elections.
