FNA - Iran has constructed and equipped scores of medical centers and hospitals with necessary devices and items although the country has been engaged in combat with the deadly virus known as COVID-19, Iranian Deputy Health Minister Seyed Kamel Taqavinejad said on Saturday.

We have accomplished 45 hospital [construction] and development projects with 6,389 beds since the past Government Week in Iran (late last August) and have launched 32 emergency and 550 health projects in this period of time, Deputy Health Minister for Development Management, Human Resources, Strategic Planning and Coordination Seyed Kamel Taqavinejad told reporters via an online conference on Saturday.

He underlined that despite its serious fight against the coronavirus, Iran did not stop development projects in the health and hygiene sector.

Taqavinejad also said that 10,000 specialists have joined the health ministry in the past year, adding that 4,500 of them are nurses.

Iran is one of the world countries which is fighting against coronavirus infection amid the US hardest-ever sanctions.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Friday underlined the need for all legislative bodies in the world to devise new financial and legislative mechanisms for the post-coronavirus era.
