Oil sales below world prices not on Iran-China cooperation plan: Official

SHANA - The head of the Iranian president's office said that the issue of selling oil at 20 to 30 percent below the global price for the item is not in the 25-year cooperation plan between Iran and China.

Mahmoud Vaezi, referring to the comprehensive 25-year plan of cooperation between Tehran and Beijing, told a televised interview on Saturday evening: "Over the past decade, Iran-China relations have expanded in various dimensions and at one point it reached a point where the volume of trade between the two countries reached $50 billion.

The head of the president's office added: "In 2015, the Chinese President met with Dr. Rouhani and discussed the volume of economic and cultural ties between Iran and China as two reliable partners. The two presidents announced that year that they were looking for a long-term cooperation document to pursue strategic relations between the two countries.

He added: "Inside Iran, relations with China are supported, and the officials of the two countries welcome long-term relations, and we are negotiating with Russia and some of other neighbors similar conditions. Iran cooperates with other countries in the region as an Asian power.

Vaezi stressed: "The issue of selling oil at 20 to 30 percent below the world price is not in the 25-year cooperation plan between Iran and China at all, and oil relations inside Iran have their own mechanism and a contract must be signed."
