Iran awaiting JCPOA DRM session after Zarifs letter to Borrell: Deputy FM
Tasnim An Iranian diplomat said the Islamic Republic is waiting for the EU foreign policy chief to reach an agreement with the EU3 on a meeting of the Dispute Resolution Mechanism (DRM) of the 2015 nuclear deal upon a recent request from Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Speaking to ICANA on Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi said Zarifs letter to EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell about the EU3s non-compliance with the JCPOA has been submitted.

Borrell, the coordinator of the JCPOA Joint Commission, is holding consultations with the European parties to the deal to decide how to convene the DRM session following Irans request, Araqchi said.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister added, The time of holding that meeting has a deadline, and Mr. Borrell is now consulting with various members. We are waiting for the result of the consultations between the EU foreign policy chief also the JCPOA coordinator- and the other members.

Earlier this month, Zarif sent the letter to Borrell to criticize the violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by the UK, France and Germany, after the three European states drafted an anti-Iranian resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors.

The Iranian top diplomat has emphasized in the letter that any interference in the ongoing Safeguards cooperation between Iran and the IAEA would run counter to the JCPOA and could have negative effects on the principles of the existing Safeguards cooperation.

Zarif said later in a tweet that Iran has triggered the Dispute Resolution Mechanism on "at least six occasions".

Don't believe the hype: Iran triggered JCPOA DRM (Dispute Resolution Mechanism) on at least 6 occasions (in ref to US AND E3 violations), he said, adding, 16 Dec 2016 (US), 10 May 2018 (US), 17 June 2018 (US), 6 Nov 2018 (US & E3), 8 May 2019 (US & E3), 2 July 2020 (E3).
